Reading Veteran.org is free and always will be. This page explains the one way the site earns money and what that means for you.
Referral fees
Some guides include a link to request help with a claim. That link takes you to a separate form where you can ask to be connected with an accredited representative or a law firm. If you are matched with a firm through that form, the firm may pay Veteran.org a referral fee.
You are never charged by Veteran.org, and using the link is optional. Nothing in a guide requires it.
What it does not change
The editorial team writes every guide independently of the referral relationship. No firm reviews, approves or pays for the content of a guide, no guide recommends a specific firm, and a firm cannot buy a mention. The rules, rates and deadlines on this site come from the primary sources linked on each page, not from any advertiser.
Who may charge you for claims help
Federal law limits who may charge a veteran a fee for help with a VA claim and when. Veterans Service Organizations help at no cost. Accredited claims agents and attorneys may charge only in the circumstances the VA permits, and their fees are regulated. Before agreeing to pay anyone, confirm that they are accredited by the VA and ask how their fee works. Our getting-help guides explain the options.
